Healthy Weight Loss Made Simple

Healthy Weight Loss is what we want
DON’T   GO  THIS  ROUTE.
Pills –  healthy weight loss ?
Today, there are so many different pills out there that profess to make us lose weight. Take this one and it’ll stop you feeling hungry or take that one and it’ll will speed up your metabolism.
Look, this might well be true. I’m not a scientist. But, I don’t want to take pills. I can lose weight without them, and so can you.

THINK  SMART  GUYS  AND  GIRLS  !

We just need to think smart, that’s it. We need to know what it is we have to do to lose weight, and then go along and do it. Get on with it.
So tell me then O wise one, how do I go about losing weight ?
IT’S  SIMPLE
We who are overweight simply eat too much and not only that, but we eat the wrong foods. So, let’s eat three quarters of what we normally eat at mealtimes. Maybe use a smaller plate. No seconds. Eat slowly. Tummy must be given time to communicate with the brain. “Tummy, have I eaten enough?” Cut down drastically on sugary foods and drinks. Enjoy each mouthful of food. Concentrate on what you are eating. Watching TV and eating at the same time is a bad idea because you just shovel the food in when your mind (brain) is somewhere else and not communicating with your tummy. If you want to lose weight you have to sacrifice . Bottom line !  If you don’t change your ways, nothing will change !
And then we need to be active. Any activity which requires movement is a form of exercise. Don’t sit for too long. Be active. Also drink lots of water all through the day.
And there we have it : Eating Habits + Activity + Water. Healthy and easy ! A healthy mind in a healthy body.
“Easier said than done!”  Of course it’s easier said than done, everything is. It just depends on how strong your WHY is ! Why do you want to lose weight? Why do you want to study to become a doctor ? Why do you want to learn how to swim? Why do you want to get married? Why ? Why? Why ?
MY reason for wanting to lose weight is because it will give me a better chance of fighting diseases like Diabetes, Obesity, High Blood Pressure, Heart Disease etc. Do you know why YOU want to lose weight? How strong is your why ?
I’m doing it my friend. Slowly and naturally. Sometimes it’s a case of three steps forwards and three steps back.    🙁

  1. Hey Roy!

I love love love this post. I wish more people would realise that weight loss is not sustainable when we try and short cut it. The truth is – you might lose weight by using the newest weight loss gimmick but 9 out of 10 times you will pick it up again. The only true way to sustainable weight loss is a shift in your lifestyle. I recently changed my mindset about weight loss – Instead of focusing on weight loss I focused on my health instead and the results were amazing. A lot can be achieved when people do things for the right reasons.

  2. Weight loss seems to be such a big problem for many people. I have had my days of wishing to lose weight and having it only as a wish. It was not until I decided on a ‘why’ that I was motivated to eat less and get active. Those pills are only a temporary fix and I don’t trust what might be in them. It really has to become a way of life. My big life change came in finding a partner who had similar goals and we held each other accountable.

  3. This Article is really cool, I personally tried many different kind of pills to lose weight, it’s kind of I was waiting for a magic pill to get lose weight and get in shape, It’s true, everything is about of how much are we eating and specially we’re eating the wrong food. Our brain is our most power full weapon and we can “trick” our system for example using small plates, replacing crackers for carrots, We can create also good habits, I read before that the brain takes about a month to assimilate a routine as an habit, I totally agreed about eating slow, every time we’re eating something we should be thankful, pay attention about what we are about to ingest, appreciate colors, smells with no distractions, it’s like we’re are putting something beautiful inside of us. Sugars are the worst talking about accumulating fat in our body, a good advice from me will be replace regular soda for diet, or even better Sparkling water, after searching about diet soda that might have dangerous chemicals I decided to switch for sparkling water, 3 years after I don’t miss any soda or diet soda at all. After making all these changes I noticed I started losing weight, I felt great but my body wasn’t looking as I wanted so I decided for example to walk instead of taking the bus, since then I’m in a decent shape but the most important, I feel great. roy@loseweightwithroy.com

    1. Hi Ivan ! Thank you so much for sharing your thoughts and experiences. You have a beautiful, holistic way of appreciating what you eat where you use your senses to help you appreciate the food you ingest.  Eating good foods should be a pleasurable experience with no distractions – agree. Chatting about our food at the table might be something to consider. We do this when we go out to a restaurant. Just adds to the meal. I’ve given up soda. Normal has too much sugar (they tell me that there are 5 teaspoons of sugar in every can) ,and diet has too many chemicals. Love my sliced lemon in water, hot or cold. Have heard that sparkling water is good for the digestion.

Good to hear that you are in decent shape and especially that you feel great. That’s what we aim for – to look good and to feel good.

      All the very best,

  4. You are absolutely correct in not taking pills and supplements for weight loss. It’s not a long-term fix.

When it comes to weight loss, the individual should realize it really comes down to a mind set and lifestyle change. The problem is that people sometimes want a “quick fix” which is not the healthy way to lose weight. Not only that, there is losing weight, but then there is also keeping it off. Therefore, you are correct in that it really does come down to eating healthy, chewing food slowly and working out.

I like how you have also incorporated food for thought around the “why” someone is losing weight. When going on the weight loss journey, that certainly is a huge part of it. If someone is not doing it for the right reasons, without a doubt, it diminishes the success rate.

I look forward to seeing other articles you will be writing in the future. Keep up the good work.

    1. Hi Yvette, thank you for sharing your thoughts and wisdom. Personally, I am never impressed when someone loses weight. I am only impressed if they are able to keep it off ! That , for me, would be mission accomplished.

      All the best.

  5. Thanks for sharing this simple step to lose weight. I’ ll first start on eating food slowly because that’s one of the hardest thing for me to do ever since even if I tried many times I can’t control eating so fast, besides it will really help me to lose down weight because it loses my appetite whenever I eat slowly. I just have to practice it everyday to get use to it. Thanks again for reminding me.

    1. Hi Celeste,

Remember what Bruce Lee said : ” It’s not enough to know, we must do !” You know what you have to do and now simply have to do, and do daily. Eventually it will become a good habit !

Good to hear from you. Thanks for taking the time to read the article.
