There  is  a  time  when  we  need  a  life  exercise  bike  right  there with  us  in  the  home. And  that  life  exercise  bike  should  be  the  DKN AM-E Exercise Bike.  Please  read  on  a  little  and  I’ll  tell  you  why  I  think  so   🙂

Unpleasant Weather

When  the  weather  is  nice  and  warm,  it’s easy  to  get  out  and  exercise,  but  when  the  weather  is  unpleasant  out  of  doors,  that’s  the  time  we  need  a  stationary  exercise bike  which  we  can  use  to  get  our  heart  rates  up  and  going.

Product Details
DKN AM-E Exercise Bike

Once  again  I  am  suggesting  a  quality  piece  of  apparatus.  I’d  rather  pay  a  bit  more  and  get  a  superior  product. There  are  many  exercise bikes  out  there  to  choose  from  but  my  choice  is  the  DKN AM-E  EXERCISE  BIKE.

SO  WHY  CHOOSE  THIS  BIKE ?

a)  It looks good, no matter where you position it in your home.

b) It’s quiet. You might want to position it in front of the tv and pedal away whilst you watch your favourite programme. You don’t want a noisy bike disturbing/distracting other members of the family who might also be watching. The DKN AM-E  Exercise Bike is very quiet. It has an 8kg (17,6lbs) Flywheel which is solid and strong. Not only is the wheel quiet, but it will last a lot longer than the lighter wheels which some of the other bikes have. The heavier the wheel, the quieter the bike.

c) The DKN AM-E  is  easy to assemble and comes with a guide which shows you exactly how to put it together.

d) Useful  information Feedback  screen is easy to set and easy to read. It also comes with a set of simple instructions. Time in the saddle, the speed you are peddling at, the number of calories you are burning, your pulse recovery, these are all part of the feedback on the screen.

e) Programmes: There are a number of different courses which you can ride and each one has a different level of difficulty. Sometimes we just want to ride on a certain level for 5 minutes or whatever and at other times we might want to ride a certain distance on a certain level – so we do that. But at other times you might want to make it more realistic and that when it’s great to have the different courses to ride eg a particular course may have have two minutes of downhill riding (easy l

e) The size of the bike : Length=87cm (34.2″), Width=52cm (20.5″), Height=135cm (53.1″)

f) It’s a strong bikeUser Weight: 140kg/308.6lbs

g) Has Pulse Grip Sensors+Wireless Receiver (Chest Strap Optional) – targets heart rate measurement etc.

h) warranty:  2  years

i) It has a nice, soft saddle.  🙂

Honestly, a great bike.  I have  the  2016  model and love it. Haven’t had even a single moment where I have regretted purchasing it.

  1. I really like the look of this, but there are two stand out points for me. Firstly that it’s quiet – who wants to sound like a gale force wind while you’re exercising indoors? Secondly, the soft saddle – this is a major plus for me. If you’re going to spend a bit of time on a bike, you want it to be comfortable. This would be a great option for me, since I do a lot of sitting at my desk and find it hard to make time to go outside to exercise a lot. I also live where the weather is not that great, especially at this time of the year! So thanks for the useful information about this bike.

    1. Hi Mara,

Good to hear from you. Enjoyed reading your thoughts.

I bought the 2016 model of this bike and it was a great buy. The answer for when the days get shorter and colder and wetter 🙂  We only have dinner at 8pm each day and so I ride a lot between 7pm and 7.45pm while I watch television. I then shower and come to the dinner table absolutely famished  🙂

      All the best, Mara.

  2. This bike looks like the perfect option for working out at home when the weather isn’t savory or nice. It also seems like a good option for a small apartment/tight spaces as it doesn’t make that much noise. Another benefit to purchasing this bike is the $ that would be saved in lieu of gym membership costs! Yikes! Seems like a perfect bike for the price! Thank you!

    1. Hi Ciara,

Thank you for your thoughts . I always enjoy knowing what others are thinking.

I have the 2016 version of the DKN AM-E and have used it stacks, usually before dinner in the evenings. Watch telly whilst exercising and then shower before having dinner.

The 2016 version and the latest model are very similar except that the latest model has one or two additions to the computer programme.

Thank you for mentioning the savings in gym fees.

Good luck with your decision, and if you do purchase the bike, dance on those peddles  🙂

  3. HI Roy, exercise bike! Ha ha the last stationery exercise bike I had was years and years ago. Back then it was just a basic bike, no course to choose, no screen, and certainly no heart rate measurement!

The looks of the modern bike, ah like the DKN AM-E, is just fabulous. You provided some good reasons to own an exercise bike. Hmmm….

    1. Hi, and many thanks for your thoughts and experiences.

I too had one of those bikes from way back when. It had a wheel on the front end and a band which you tightened or loosened to make it harder or easier to ride 🙂

I now have the 2016 model of the DKN AM-E.  Often take to the saddle between 7.00pm and 7.45pm. whilst watching telly. Then shower and have dinner. Am truly happy with the purchase I made last year and haven’t had an ounce of trouble from it. An excellent option for when it is too dark, cold, windy or damp out of doors.

The 2016 model and the latest model are virtually the same except for a few tweaks in the computer programme.

Very easy to assemble and operate.

  4. It is good that I can position this bike in front of the television and watch my favorite programmes. The quietness of the wheel is a real treat so I cannot wake up anyone in the morning exercising. This is a good bike I can programme for distance if I wanted to do so. I like the soft saddle mentioned. I do not have too much room in my apartment so this tiny bike would be a good fit. Thanks.

  5. Hi Roy,
Thanks for the interesting review on the exercise bike. I used to have one years ago and I loved it. It is so easy to use any time of the day and once you have put out the initial outlay it is cheaper than going to the gym or paying for a spin class.
I also love the fact that this one is quiet and most of all that it has a comfy seat. Now that is a rarity for an exercise bike. You have made me consider investing in another one with your enthusiasm for it.

    1. Thanks for your thoughts, Stefanie. It is your decision, but if you do decide to purchase, make sure that you make the bike work for you. It is a great form of exercise, practical and easy to include in any exercise programme as it is right there with you in your home .

  6. This site is very simple and yet very informational. I really like to exercise and I prefer to do it outdoors. The fresh air is something very beneficial for the heath. I often ride my bike as a type of exercise but also as a way to pass a good afternoon in solitude and reflect. I have found that I think better while moving, running or riding my bike. It’s a very enjoyable activity especially when there is good weather outside! Thank you for this very informational post about this bike.

    1. Hi, enjoyed reading your thoughts on exercising out in the fresh air and the many benefits you receive from your cycling out there under the blue sky.

The Life Fitness Exercise Bike is of course a stationary bike which most folk use during the cold, wet, dark winter months. The advantage of this bike is that it can be used indoors and can be ridden whilst watching telly or listening to music in the comfort of your home. For those days when it’s too dangerous to ride out of doors. It could be that Christmas present you’ve always wanted 🙂

      All the best,
      roy

  7. Hey,

Thank you for your article about bike. I like the idea that you can use the bike in the winter season, it sounds great. However, i have one question about the seat that it mentioned in the article that is adjustable, is it adjustable up and down only?? or it is possible to adjust front and back.

    1. The saddle definitely adjusts front to back, Haitham. Am sitting looking at my bike right now.

You will love the bike. Who wants to get outside and exercise during the cold, dark, wet winter months? Not I 🙂
      roy

  8. Hi Roy
In my country, the weather is very unpredictable , with many occasions we have all four seasons in one day!

I love cycling, and have been scouting around for a good exercise bike.

I like the cool features that you had described on the DKN M exercise bike. I like the fact that it is silent and won’t be a hindrance while I watch my favovrite TV show.

What is the price of this bike?

    Thanks for a cool review.
    Regards
    Roopesh

  9. Looks like a spaceship. Just kidding, I’ve got one and it’s great for bad knees or bad weather. Lost me 20kg in 5 months. Obviously I was dieting too. Doing about 30 minutes a day and the joints are good. My wife laughs at me while I watch TV on my bike.

    1. Hi Dave,

Well done on that weight loss my friend. Keep it off now ! These exercise bikes definitely work. Many out there but it is wise to purchase a reliable one. Not to buy something because it’s cheaper. Fatal mistake.

Enjoy your bike and encourage your wife to get in the saddle when the bike is free     🙂

      All the best.

      roy

  10. Hello Roy,
I very much agree with you about the benefits that having a bicycle to perform exercises can give us. I also love that it can give you the heart rate or how many calories you are burning. I do physical exercises regularly and it would be great to have a bicycle in my house to do other types of exercises, what do you think?

    1. You look like a very fit guy and I’m guessing that you take your exercising very seriously. Nothing wrong with that. To be applauded. An exercise bike in the home is a real asset. Love mine, especially when the weather is nasty or in winter when it’s too dark to get out early in the morning or after work at night. The DKN AM-E exercise bike is a real beauty. Not the most expensive but equally not the cheapest. I did my homework before I bought mine and have been more than happy with my purchase. The computer indicates various courses you can ride. Some tougher than others and some easier than others. Get on my bike and enter the route I wish to ride during the session. Very easy to punch in. The course comes up on the screen and off we go !

Good luck with your decision. I wish you good physical and mental health.
      roy

  11. This is so interesting and I have never quite thought about buying a bike for home use. I will definitely go for this and I know my son will enjoy using it too. I have been exercising on and off for two years now and I know with this addition in the house it will encourage me to work out. Thanks so much for this.

    1. Hi Emmy,

Can see a bit of competition between mother and son on the horizon. It is true what you say about the bike giving you encouragement. It calls you to come and exercise  🙂

  12. This exercise bike looks like a great option for people to have at home. Where I live, it get very cold in the winter so I have to go to the gym if I want to get in some cardio. This bike seems like the perfect way to get some exercise at home.

  13. I usually do a morning exercise at home working with some basic bodyweight activity.

I want to jog in the morning but it is tough for me to wake up early and take my time to run a few a distance because I need to rush every morning to punch my card in our office and not to get caught late by my boss.

I think it is timely to read your article. I have not yet tried an exercise bike at home. Maybe I can do an exercise in the late afternoon after office works.

DKN AM-E Exercise Bike is a good option to consider.

    Thanks.

    1. Hello, it was good to hear from you.

My bike is one of my best friends. Can ride whenever I want as it’s right here in my home. Have last years DKN AM_E . The best is that one is not dependent on the weather or how dark it is outside. Can ride at anytime of the day . I usually ride  in front of the television before supper each day. And the computer gives you different tracks to ride, so there’s plenty of choice.

Have never regretted my purchase. A great investment in my well-being.

  14. Hi Roy,

    Great article!

I have a walking machine, but it hurts my knees when I walk fast.A good friend of mine has suggested me to buy a bike so it will decrease the pain in my knees. I hope it will work because the pain is unbearable. Also, my walking machine makes a lot of noise, which really bothers me while I am walking. This bike looks awesome! I already love it:) Just a question, please. Is it easy to move from one place to another? I like things to be tidy:)

Thank you for this useful post!

    1. Hi Daniella,

Thanks for sharing your experiences. Have heard from many sources and from my own experience that a bike is so much easier on the knees. Non weight-bearing exercise, so the knee doesn’t have to take the body weight as it does when you walk and run.

Love my exercise bike. And yes, it’s very easy to move around as it has wheels on the front.

Wish you pain free cycling. All the best.

      roy

  15. Hi Roy, thanks for the great review! Do you think this would be a good choice to do spin class style workouts? I really enjoy going to spin classes but would prefer to stay home rather than go to the gym.
Lot’s of details in your review, I’ll check out some of other reviews

    1. Hi Corrine,

To tell you the absolute truth , I’ve never been to a spinning class at a gym and am not sure which bikes they use. Don’t really know what Spinning is.

I do know that this bike has a number of  strength settings and I really enjoy riding the different courses (tracks) provided by the bikes. They can almost be compared to ski runs I guess where some of them require more from the cyclists than others.

And the best is that you don’t have to leave the house. A huge bonus when it’s cold, wet and dark outside.

      roy

  16. I recently bought the DKN AM-E Exercise Bike. I love it, I ride it for about 30 minutes every morning, great workout!
What I like best is how quiet this bike is! I am up earlier than everyone else in my house, so I try not to make much noise. The DKN AM-E Exercise Bike helps me keep quiet as I get my day going!
This is a great choice for anyone looking to get a new exercise bike!!

    1. Hi Brendon, good to hear from you.  So pleased to hear that you too enjoy the DKN .

Stick with your riding routine my friend.

      roy

  17. Hi Roy,

I’m actually on the market to buy one before next summer. I live in a very hot country, and the roads are pretty dangerous to use for cyclists.

I just need to find out one thing: my only pet peeve is the 1-hour limit that resets the program that seems to be a standard feature with the new stationary bikes. Not sure why they do that. I can go one for a few hours!

Can I override this 1-hour limit on this model?

    1. Hi Zaid,

Good to hear from you. Yes, traffic is a huge problem for cyclists. A stationary bike is great. One just needs to be creative as the scenery doesn’t change much when one is riding  🙂 I have last years DKN and do a lot of my riding in front of the telly. However, there are times when I want to concentrate on my actual ride and it’s then that I use my imagination. Imagine myself riding that mountain pass indicated on the computer. Use my senses flat-out. My bike doesn’t have a water bottle holder and neither does this years model. Not sure why not. Would be easy enough to fit one. But I have a tall table which I place next to me when I ride. So the water bottle is right there.

Regarding your question, Zaid. I never ride for longer than 45 minutes so actually don’t know whether we would be able to over-ride that 1h limit. I have, however, emailed the manufacturers to find the answer to your question and will get back to you just as soon as I hear back from them.

      Will be in touch, Zaid.

      roy

    2. Hi Zaid,
Sorry that I have taken so long to get back to you. The truth is that I still haven’t been able to find the answer to your question. Went directly to the manufacturing company a few days back, but have not as yet received a reply.

Have examined the sytems on my bike which is last years model of the same bike. It also closes down after 60 minutes but I hit the start button again and that seemed to allow me to keep going. Only went on for about 3 minutes so am still not sure how long that would actually keep the program going ?

Will let you know as soon as I hear back from the manufacturers. Am sure that I will eventually hear back from them. It’s a popular bike.

      All the best, Zaid.

  18. Haven’t seen an exercise bike in a while actually – for some reason, I always go out jogging, and most recently started trying out rowing machines…just tried out Orange Theory last week for the first time, and it really kicked my butt…those rowing machines are way tougher than i knew! You’re right though – cold weather is upon us in various areas of the country, and an exercise bike would be super beneficial til it passes. This one looks super sturdy and sounds more convenient than others that are bulky and loud. Thanks for the info!

    1. Hi Paul,

Thanks for sharing your experiences. What might “Orange Theory” be ?

The Stationary Exercise Bike is a great piece of exercise equipment to have when the weather is dodgy. I spend a lot of time on mine. Ride when it’s dark in the early mornings and late afternoons. Also when it’s wet and windy. Love it.

  19. Hey Roy
I am just the other side of 60 years, I’ve lived & still have a very active life, workwise.

I didn’t much feel the need to exercise as such. I figured because I was active already I didn’t need to. Although having just said that I used to love long distance running. But I reckon I’d be stupid to attempt such a thing now.

Now, what I’ve read on your site has me thinking I might not be correct in that thinking!

What would you suggest to a 62-year-old who may possibly be deluded about how fit he is?

    I’m not over-weight, well at least I don’t think so, I come in around 72kg & I’m about 167cm tall or short depending on who’s looking 🙂

And even if I were to start exercising I have no gauge on how little or much I should do.

I don’t take any medication, basically, I am not doctor keen, and would only go if I broke something.

What do you think? Be warned I may or not take your advice. I tend to be either all in or all out on things if that makes sense?

    Cheers
    James
    PS: Love your site too.

    1. Hi James,

Good to hear your thoughts and experiences.

You sound fit and well !

You have asked for my thoughts so here goes. Now it all depends on your definition of the term “fit”.” You are fit enough for your daily tasks and that’s great. How supple are you? This to me is one of the most important areas as we age.  How strong is your core ? Another important area. What’s your stamina like ?

You know something, James, it’s important to ask yourself a few questions: Do I feel like exercising again? Why do I want/need to exercise? Do I feel that I want to extend myself again? What kind of exercise do I need. It’s your call. Only you know the answers to these questions. And it’s all about looking good and feeling good. Our general well-being.

Thank you for listening to my waffling, James and thank you for your kind words about my website.

      Kindest,

      roy

  20. hello, this bike actually looks like a good investments. I have a habit of not working out as hard because of snow or rain and usually do some low intense workouts inside. But i can see this bike could be what i need when i return home. Just wondering what the price is?

    1. Hi Daniel, thank you for your thoughts on the bike. They cost £230 . It’s a quality bike – quiet, easy to move, easy to operate, reliable, strong. A great investment. Ride mine every day. Bought it back in Jan 2016 and haven’t had a minute of trouble.

      All the best Daniel.

  21. Roy, I love your review! I live up in Washington where it is mostly dark and always raining. I love cardio because it allows me to burn fat and helps me warm-up before my workouts, but I put them off sometimes because of the bad weather.

Most favorite feature of the product is that it has multiple difficulties and different courses because I know some people who say running on a tread meal is boring.

Thank you for sharing this review, Roy, I enjoy your encouragement to start getting healthy and lose weight.

    1. It’s a good bike my friend. Easy to move around if need be, simple to operate, quiet and reliable.

Thank you for your kind words re the webpage. Appreciated.

  22. I do like the design and it does look good as per se. Thanks for your introduction about this bike. I have been looking for options to enable me and my family to exercise more indoor considering most of us do not have much time doing outdoor type of exercise. A bike like this seems to have fit what we are looking for. I’ll definitely get my family to have a look at this page and get them to consider.

    1. An exercise bike is  a huge asset during poor weather. There are many to choose from but it is important to buy quality. I am so pleased with my choice. Not a single problem with it and I have had it since early January 2016. Ride it every single day.

  23. That’s actually pretty light for an exercise bike. It seems to have a lot of great features, like the computer controlled resistance, and the preset programmes. I’ve been brainstorming new workouts lately – I mostly work out at home…i’ll jog outside when weather isn’t too bad…but also I have tested out some Kickboxing classes and Orange Theory outside of my house – just to get out and be around humans (I work from home a lot)…this bike looks like a good addition to a workout routine…or actually it could be just a great cardio machine all by itself, depending on your goals. Thanks for the info!

    1. Hi Paul, good to hear from you.

I use my bike every day except for Thursday which is my rest and recovery day. Have had my bike since January 2016 and have no trouble from it and a great deal of satisfaction. Love to ride to music. What is Orange Theory, Paul?

      Bleddyn_Roy@yahoo.com

  24. Whenever we have inclement weather, I have a tendency to walk on my treadmill or do an exercise video. However, after reading your review, it makes me want to try the DKN AM-E Exercise Bike.

After reading your thorough review, it gave me all the information I needed to make an informed decision.

Thank you very much for the great information.

    1. Good to hear from you. Love to hear from those who have a passion for exercise.

All the best with your decision. A nice Christmas present which you could give yourself  🙂

  25. Hi Roy,

You make an interesting case for having an exercise bike in the home. I live in Ireland and the weather for the last few weeks has been cold and very winter like.

I haven’t actually had a chance to follow my normal “keep fit” routine due to the weather.

That was why I was interested when I came across your review of this stationary bike. Thanks for opening up my mind to another option.

So can you put this stationary bike in any location in the home? Are there any other considerations?

    Kind Regards,
    David

    1. Hi David, thanks for your thoughts. The weather here in the UK can play havoc with our exercise regimes hey ! And it isn’t just the weather which hassles me, the short days are also kind of limiting too.

The bike is a great option. Leg strength and cardio – fantastic. If you do decide to purchase a “home” bike, take my advice and get yourself a good quality machine.

      This particular bike

has wheels so is very easy to move from room to room in the home. It is also quiet which is a major perk should one want to place it in front of the telly. It also has a nice soft saddle which is fully adjustable.

All the best with your decision, David. A nice Christmas present for yourself  🙂

      roy

  26. Hi Roy,

    Great article!

I have a walking machine, and I use it every single day. But lately, it started to make a weird sound, which I don’t really like:) I need a new machine, but this time I want to buy a bike because it enables me to seat while exercising. Also, I have pain knees, and I think it’s due to walking on the machine.
The DKN AM bike seems to have great functionalities. I just would like to know if this bike is noiseless? I am susceptible to noise:)

Thank you for this excellent post!

    1. Hi Daniella, thanks for sharing. Those walkers can sometimes hurt the knees as it is a weight-bearing exercise where all the body weight goes through the legs and joints. The bike is a non-weight-bearing exerciser so our body weight does not go through the knees.

The DKN is s quality machine and excellent value for money. I have the 2016 model and love it. Ride it every day. The programs are truly very easy to set and the bike has a very comfortable saddle, is strong, reliable, can be moved around easily as it has wheels, and yes it is quiet, Daniella. Perfect for riding in front of the telly when it’s cold and miserable or too hot.

All the best with your decision. All I can say is that I’ve had mine for almost two years now and haven’t had a moments trouble with it.

      Take care,

      roy

  27. Hello Roy,

I was on a shopping tour with my husband last week and all of a sudden I told him, I would like a home bike for Christmas. So your article falls on my screen very timely.

I checked your points, the only question I still have is because I am quite small, do you think this would be a disadvantage ?

    Thank you in advance.

    Kindly,
    Françoise

    1. Hi Francoise, the bike would be a great Christmas present. Did you read some of the reviews below the article? They make interesting reading.

As to whether being small would be a disadvantage when riding this stationary exercise , the answer is a definite no. Children ride this bike. The saddle has 7 notches. I am 169 cm tall and the saddle is on notch 5. There are another 3 notches above this to lower the saddle. And if you are slight of build like my wife, this too is not a problem.

All the best with your decision, Francoise. Read a couple of the reviews, they will answer many of the questions you might have about the bike.

      roy

  28. This certainly seems like a nice bike at a fair price. I currently have a Gold’s Gym Cycle Trainer that I’ve had for years. I it purchased from a Wal-Mart store for more than the cost of this one. It’s currently falling a part and the screen is going out so I’m in the market for something new.

I do like that this one has a much more higher quality screen and controls. You also mentioned that it’s quiet due to the heavy wheel, which is a definite plus since mine is super loud. I just wish it had a built-in fan like my current one. But that’s something I can probably do without.

Thanks for sharing this find. I appreciate the in depth, honest review.

    All the best,

    Michael

  29. Nice to know the many advantages of DKN AM-E bike. From the looks of it, the bike has all the right attributes. What I like best about is its quiet quality and that it can be assembled easily. For long, I have been trying to get myself an exercise bike, and this DKN AM-E review is timely. The Pulse Grip Sensors+Wireless Receiver looks interesting. Does the measurement of Pulse Grip Sensors+Wireless Receiver seem accurate? Also, is the bike suitable for both males and females.

    1. Hi Sukumar,

This a a quality bike. I have found readings to be accurate and reliable and my wife loves the bike so yes, I would say that it is suitable for both males and females.

Enjoy your Dec Break my friend whether you will be celebrating Christmas or not.

      Kindest,

      roy

  30. Hey there Roy, thanks for another great post and another great idea to keep up our health and fitness goals at home!

Exercise bikes are sometimes overshadowed by the myriad of elliptical machines out there in the market, but like a lot of other people, I still prefer the bikes!

Tell me, does the DKN AM-E Exercise Bike have the capability to bluetooth to wireless headphones?

    1. Hi there Andrea, sorry that I have taken so long to get back to you. According to the manufacturers, the newest DKN AM-E does have the capability to bluetooth to wireless headphones. A happy New Year to you and yours and here’s hoping that 2018 will be all that you want it to be.
